Alaska Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired
Founded in 1977, the Alaska Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired is the only nonprofit vision rehabilitation and training centre in Alaska, serving the entire state from Utqiagvik to Ketchikan through an Anchorage facility and a Rural Outreach Programme. All services—including a low vision clinic, orientation and mobility training, and assistive technology—are provided at no cost to participants.

The Alaska Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired was founded in 1977 and is the only nonprofit vision rehabilitation and training centre in Alaska. Holding a 4-star Charity Navigator rating, the Centre serves the entire state through its Anchorage base and a dedicated Rural Outreach Programme that reaches remote communities.
What They Do
The Centre delivers activities of daily living training, orientation and mobility instruction, assistive technology training, manual skills development, vocational services, and a low vision clinic—all at no cost to participants. The Rural Outreach Programme extends these services to Alaskans in remote communities who cannot travel to Anchorage.

The Centre serves blind and visually impaired residents of all ages throughout Alaska, including seniors experiencing vision loss and individuals in remote communities across one of the nation's most geographically challenging states.
