Association Malienne de Lutte Contre les Déficiences Mentales chez l'Enfant(AMALDEME)

Founded in 1984, AMALDEME is Mali's primary organisation dedicated to the care and socio-professional integration of children and young people with intellectual disabilities, having welcomed over 4,000 children from Mali and neighbouring countries since its founding. It maintains branches across all eight of Mali's administrative regions.

Founded on 31 July 1984, AMALDEME (Association Malienne de Lutte Contre les Déficiences Mentales chez l'Enfant) is Mali's oldest and most established organisation dedicated to intellectual disability. Based in Bamako, it has welcomed over 4,000 children from Mali and neighbouring countries, and maintains branches in all eight of Mali's administrative regions.

AMALDEME provides direct services including residential reception, re-education, schooling, vocational training, and socio-professional, cultural, artistic, and sports integration for children and young people with intellectual disabilities. The organisation also conducts advocacy for the rights of people with intellectual disabilities and their families, researches causes and prevention, and trains caregivers and professionals.
