The Arc of Louisiana is a statewide advocacy organisation for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families, with more than 6,000 members across 21 local chapters. Founded in 1978, The Arc works to promote inclusion, employment, and quality of life for Louisianans with I/DD throughout their lifetimes.

Established in 1978, The Arc of Louisiana is an affiliate of The Arc of the United States — the world's largest grassroots advocacy organisation for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Headquartered in New Orleans with offices in Baton Rouge, Lafayette, and Shreveport, The Arc of Louisiana serves members through a statewide chapter network.

What They Do

The Arc of Louisiana advocates for state policies that expand community inclusion and supported employment; provides information and referral for families navigating disability service systems; convenes 21 local chapters across the state; and delivers peer support, education, and disability rights resources for individuals, families, and professionals.

The Arc serves children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities — including Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism, and other I/DD conditions — as well as their families, caregivers, and the professionals who support them.
