About

The Centro de Atención Integral a la Discapacidad (CAID) is a decentralised government institution attached to the Dominican Ministry of Education, established to deliver high-quality, comprehensive therapeutic and diagnostic services to children from birth to age 12 with autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, or cerebral palsy. CAID operates centres in Santo Domingo, Santiago, and Juan de la Maguana, with ongoing expansion across the country.

What They Do

CAID provides an extensive spectrum of interdisciplinary services: psychiatry, early intervention, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, behavioural intervention, aquatic therapy, physiatry, pediatric dentistry, nutrition, social services, and family therapy. Family training is a core component so caregivers can reinforce therapeutic goals at home. CAID also partners with universities and international organisations to advance clinical standards.

Who They Serve

Children aged 0–12 in the Dominican Republic with autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, or cerebral palsy, along with their families and caregivers who receive direct therapeutic support and training to maximise each child's developmental potential and path to social inclusion.
