Cerebral Palsy Alliance
Cerebral Palsy Alliance was founded in 1945 in Sydney and is now a global centre of expertise for cerebral palsy research, services, and assistive technology innovation. It is the world's largest private funder of cerebral palsy research, operating NDIS-funded services across New South Wales and driving AT innovation and early intervention globally.
About
Cerebral Palsy Alliance was founded in 1945 by Neil and Audrie McLeod in Sydney, whose daughter Jennifer had cerebral palsy. Starting with 14 children and a budget of £32, the organisation — then called The Spastic Centre — grew into Australia's largest cerebral palsy service provider. In 2011, it renamed itself Cerebral Palsy Alliance to reflect changing language and community values. Its principal centre is in Allambie Heights on Sydney's Northern Beaches, with multiple service sites across NSW.
What They Do
Cerebral Palsy Alliance provides NDIS-funded therapy, support coordination, early childhood intervention, and adult services for people with cerebral palsy and similar conditions. Its research centre is the world's largest private funder of cerebral palsy research, advancing work in early diagnosis, prevention, and intervention. The organisation is also a significant innovator in assistive technology, developing and evaluating tools that improve mobility, communication, and independence for people with complex physical needs.
Who They Serve
Cerebral Palsy Alliance serves people with cerebral palsy across all age groups and disability levels — from infants and children receiving early intervention through to adults in supported living. Internationally, the Alliance's research and advocacy work reaches the global cerebral palsy community through partnerships, publications, and technology transfer.
