About

FAICA (Federación Argentina de Instituciones de Ciegos y Amblíopes) was established on 13 December 1986. It is a non-profit civil association that brings together first-degree member organisations throughout Argentina led by persons with visual disabilities. FAICA is a member of the World Blind Union and represents Argentina's blind and low-vision community at international level.

What They Do

FAICA works to consolidate unity across the Argentine typhlological movement and advocates nationally with government agencies and civil society for rights, accessibility, full participation, and autonomy. It coordinates the ÁGORA Argentina programme — a vocational training initiative funded by Spain's ONCE Foundation — and provides technical advice to member organisations on accessible technology, legal rights, and organisational capacity.

Who They Serve

FAICA serves persons who are blind or have low vision across Argentina, primarily adults, through its member organisations. It focuses on independence, employment access, and political participation for the blind community, and engages with international blind movement bodies to bring global best practice to Argentina.
