Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities(ICDD)
A federally mandated state council driving systems change so all people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Illinois can exercise equal opportunity and freedom. ICDD funds advocacy projects, community inclusion initiatives, and self-advocacy training statewide.
About
Created in 1974 under the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act, the Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities (ICDD) leads policy and systems change across Illinois. The Council is administered through the federal Administration for Community Living and operates from its Chicago office.
What They Do
ICDD develops a five-year State Plan that guides priorities for advocacy, capacity building, and community integration. The Council awards grants to disability organisations, funds self-advocacy leadership programmes, and monitors how state systems serve people with developmental disabilities.
Who They Serve
People with intellectual and developmental disabilities of all ages across Illinois, together with their families and the organisations that support them.
