Independent Living Resource Center New Mexico(ILRC)

Founded in 1989, the Independent Living Resource Center (ILRC) in Albuquerque is one of five Centres for Independent Living in New Mexico. It is a grassroots, community-controlled organisation where at least 51% of board members and staff are people with disabilities — reflecting the Independent Living movement's core principle of consumer control across a large and geographically diverse service area.
What They Do
ILRC provides nursing-home transition and diversion services, youth transition programmes, peer counselling, independent living skills training, advocacy, benefits counselling, and housing assistance. The centre also supports assistive technology access and connects individuals to community resources across 16 counties including rural and underserved areas.

People of all ages with any disability — physical, sensory, psychiatric, or intellectual/developmental — across 16 counties in New Mexico, with particular attention to rural and under-resourced communities.
