About
The Michigan Disability Rights Coalition (MDRC) is a cross-disability, disabled-led nonprofit organisation based in East Lansing, Michigan. For nearly four decades, MDRC has partnered with individuals, families, and organisations to foster disability pride, support leadership development, and advance full community inclusion. The majority of its staff and board members identify as people with disabilities.
What They Do
MDRC delivers advocacy skills training, peer-support networks, disability pride education, and violence-prevention programming. The coalition centres people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are often excluded from mainstream advocacy, and works to build an inclusive movement across all disability identities.
Who They Serve
People with all types of disabilities — apparent and non-apparent — across Michigan, with particular emphasis on including and uplifting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
