About
Founded in 1987 and based in Jacmel on Haiti's southern coast, PAZAPA is a Haitian NGO whose name means "step by step" in Haitian Creole. For over three decades it has supported the care, education, and development of children with disabilities and their families, reaching more than 2,000 of Haiti's most marginalised families.
What They Do
PAZAPA operates three levels of inclusive education and a dedicated Deaf programme, alongside specialist medical services including orthopedic, plastic, and neurological surgery. Rehabilitation services encompass physical therapy and occupational therapy. Recent annual statistics include treatment of 101 children with epilepsy, 126 children with orthopedic needs, and 19 clubfoot cases surgically corrected.
Who They Serve
The Centre serves children with physical, developmental, and sensory disabilities in Haiti, with a particular focus on families who would otherwise have no access to specialist care or education. Services extend to parents and caregivers through support and training programmes.
