Organization
Rick Hansen Foundation(RHF)
A Canadian national foundation working to create a fully accessible and inclusive world through its Accessibility Certification program, education initiatives, and community advocacy. Founded by Paralympian Rick Hansen, whose 1987 Man in Motion World Tour raised global disability awareness.
About
The Rick Hansen Foundation (RHF) is headquartered in Richmond, British Columbia. Founded in the legacy of Rick Hansen's 1987 Man in Motion World Tour — a 40,000 km wheelchair journey through 34 countries — the Foundation has worked for decades to raise awareness, change attitudes, and break down physical and attitudinal barriers for people with disabilities.
What They Do
RHF's flagship program is the Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification™ (RHFAC), a rating system that measures and certifies the level of meaningful access in buildings and sites across Canada. The Foundation also delivers a free Schools Program, ambassador presentations, accessibility training, and advisory services to help organisations improve access and inclusion.
Who They Serve
People with physical disabilities and mobility impairments across Canada, as well as businesses, governments, and communities seeking to improve the accessibility of the built environment.
