Union Nationale des Associations Burkinabé pour la Promotion des Aveugles et Malvoyants(UN-ABPAM)
UN-ABPAM is Burkina Faso's national union for blind and visually impaired persons, founded in 1979 and comprising around 65 member associations across 30 of the country's 45 provinces. A World Blind Union member, it champions inclusive education and economic participation for blind people nationwide.
About
Founded in October 1979 by a group of blind individuals in Ouagadougou, UN-ABPAM is one of the oldest disabled people's organisations in Burkina Faso. It has grown into a nationwide network of approximately 65 member associations across 30 provinces and holds full membership in the World Blind Union.
What They Do
UN-ABPAM advocates for inclusive education policies that mainstream blind students into regular schools, promotes Braille literacy, supports livelihoods and economic inclusion programmes, and represents Burkinabè blind persons at the international level through the World Blind Union. It also monitors implementation of disability legislation as it affects blind and low-vision people.

Blind and visually impaired persons of all ages across Burkina Faso, from children needing inclusive schooling to adults seeking economic independence and full participation in civic life.
