Washington Initiative for Supported Employment(WISE)
Washington Initiative for Supported Employment (WISE) is a nonprofit dedicated since 1985 to expanding meaningful, integrated employment opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Washington State. WISE provides training, consulting, and advocacy to help individuals with IDD access living-wage employment and build careers.
About
Founded in 1985, Washington Initiative for Supported Employment (WISE) is based in Tukwila, Washington, and operates from the belief that everyone can work. WISE has worked for nearly four decades to transform employment services and expand opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) across Washington State and beyond.
What They Do
WISE provides in-person, webinar-based, and on-demand training for employment service providers, schools, businesses, and state agencies through the WISE Learning Center. Their consulting services help organisations build inclusive employment practices, and WISE actively engages with policymakers to advance supported and customised employment at the systems level.
Who They Serve
WISE serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities seeking employment, as well as the service providers, employers, educators, and policymakers who support them. While focused on Washington State, WISE training and resources are accessed by employment professionals nationally.
