About
Access Earth was founded in Dublin, Ireland by Matt McCann, who has cerebral palsy. Launched in 2012, it combines community crowdsourcing with AI-assisted data to build a global picture of real-world accessibility across restaurants, shops, hotels, transport hubs, and public venues in over 107 countries.
What It Does
Users search for accessible venues near them or in a destination city, view ratings across multiple accessibility criteria — step-free entry, lift or elevator access, accessible toilets, hearing loops, lighting levels, and gender-neutral facilities — and contribute their own reviews. An AI accessibility assistant can summarise venue information on demand. The app is available on iOS, Android, and web.
Who It Helps
People with mobility disabilities, wheelchair users, Deaf and hard-of-hearing users who rely on hearing loops, blind and partially sighted users, and anyone who needs detailed, multi-criteria accessibility data before visiting a venue or planning international travel.
