About this resource

About

Accessaloo was created by the team at Disabled Accessible Travel and launched in 2019. It is a free iOS and Android app built on the recognition that finding a suitable accessible toilet is one of the most significant practical barriers to travel and daily life for many disabled people — and that "accessible" means very different things depending on a person's specific needs.

What It Does

Users search a map for nearby accessible toilets, then view facility details including dimensions, grab rail positions, hoist availability, changing table provision, and door width. Each listing includes photographs and community-submitted ratings and reviews, allowing people to judge suitability before they arrive. Users can also add toilets missing from the database, growing the global directory over time.

Who It Helps

People with mobility impairments and wheelchair users, those with inflammatory bowel disease, Crohn's disease, or ulcerative colitis, people with continence conditions, stoma users, and anyone whose health condition requires access to carefully chosen toilet facilities when travelling or away from home.
