About this resource

About

Accessercise was co-founded by British Para-Powerlifter Ali Jawad to dismantle the barriers disabled people face in the fitness industry. Launched in 2021 and featured by TechCrunch, the app was built with the goal of eventually supporting 198 different disability categories across its exercise library.

What It Does

Accessercise offers an impairment-specific exercise video library where every demonstration is performed by someone with the same disability as the user. Users can build custom workouts, set goals, and track progress via the My Workout function. A social feed lets users share achievements and motivate each other, and a gym accessibility rating tool helps users find and review accessible fitness venues nearby. The app uses a freemium model with optional subscription tiers.

Who It Helps

People with physical disabilities who want workout guidance from peer role models with the same impairment, anyone seeking to find or rate accessible gyms, and the wider disability community looking for inclusive fitness content across iOS, Android, and web.
