About
ActionSpace is London's leading development agency for artists with learning disabilities, funded by Arts Council England. The organisation operates three flagship studio spaces — at Studio Voltaire in South London, Cockpit Bloomsbury in Central London, and ASC Ealing Road in West London — where beginning, emerging, and established artists with learning disabilities work professionally each week.
What It Does
ActionSpace provides studio space, art materials, professional guidance, and exhibition support to more than 70 learning disabled artists weekly. The programme facilitates residencies, commissions, and partnerships with major UK cultural institutions. ActionSpace artist Nnena Kalu won the 2025 Turner Prize, one of the most prestigious awards in contemporary British art, demonstrating the professional calibre of the work produced.
Who It Helps
Adults with learning disabilities in London who are developing or sustaining a professional artistic practice, and who benefit from regular studio access, peer community, and connections to the wider arts sector.
