About
Founded in 1987 as the Physically Challenged Ski Program of Crested Butte, the ASC is accredited by both the Association of Experiential Education and the Professional Ski Instructors Association. The Kelsey Wright Building, completed in 2019 after a $14 million fundraising campaign, houses state-of-the-art adaptive sports facilities at the base of Crested Butte Mountain Resort.
What It Does
Winter offerings include Alpine Skiing, Mono-skiing, Bi-skiing, 3- and 4-track Skiing, Snowboarding, Nordic Skiing, and Snowshoeing, all led by professionally trained staff and volunteers. Summer programmes add mountain biking, road cycling, kayaking, rock climbing, and ropes courses.
Who It Helps
Children, adults, and veterans with physical or cognitive disabilities; over $250,000 in annual scholarships ensure that no participant is turned away for financial reasons.
