About this resource

About

The Adaptive Sports Center (ASC) is a Colorado nonprofit based at Crested Butte Mountain Resort that provides year-round outdoor adventure programmes for people with disabilities. ASC's winter offerings include alpine skiing, mono-skiing, bi-skiing, 3- and 4-track skiing, snowboarding, Nordic skiing, and snowshoeing — all delivered by trained adaptive instructors.

What It Does

ASC's instructors deliver customised adaptive snow-sport lessons for individuals across a wide disability spectrum, using specialised equipment including mono-skis, bi-skis, and outriggers suited to each participant's needs. Sliding-scale fees and financial assistance ensure access regardless of income, and summer programming extends to kayaking, cycling, and rock climbing.

Who It Helps

The Adaptive Sports Center serves children and adults with physical and cognitive disabilities — including spinal cord injuries, amputations, cerebral palsy, vision impairments, traumatic brain injury, and intellectual and developmental disabilities.
