About this resource

About

Since 1984, the Adaptive Sports Foundation (ASF) has provided life-changing outdoor sport experiences for children and adults with physical disabilities, cognitive disabilities, and chronic illnesses. Headquartered in Windham, New York, the nonprofit has served over 13,000 individuals and delivered more than 79,000 adaptive lessons. Their philosophy is that sport creates a new identity — one built around capability rather than limitation.

What It Offers

  • Winter programmes (December–March): Adaptive ski and snowboard lessons every weekend at Windham Mountain, using mono-skis, bi-skis, and outriggers
  • Summer multi-sport camps: Kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, swimming, adaptive skateboarding, biking, and hiking
  • Warriors in Motion: A dedicated programme for injured US service members focusing on wellness and lifelong healthy living
  • Recreational and competition tracks: Options for beginners through experienced athletes who want to race or compete
  • Virtual adaptive fitness programming: Online programmes for those unable to attend in person

Who It's For

ASF serves children and adults with a broad range of physical and cognitive disabilities and chronic illnesses. The Warriors in Motion programme specifically serves injured military personnel and veterans. Contact the foundation directly for current programme pricing and scheduling.
