About this resource

About

Adaptive Yoga LIVE was founded in April 2020, when the UK government asked disabled people to self-isolate indefinitely during the COVID-19 pandemic. Recognizing that disabled people face heightened barriers to physical activity and social connection, the organization built a free, online-first model that has since grown into an award-winning international community programme.

What It Does

Adaptive Yoga LIVE runs free weekly live classes via Zoom, each approximately 60 minutes and combining gentle seated or wheelchair-based movement, breathwork, and relaxation. Sessions are led by trained adaptive yoga instructors in a supportive, non-judgmental environment. Carers and family members are welcome to join free of charge, and recorded sessions support those who cannot attend live classes.

Who It Helps

Disabled people of all ability levels — including wheelchair users, people with chronic conditions, and those with limited mobility — along with their carers and family members. The programme is completely free with a particular focus on reducing isolation and supporting both physical and mental wellbeing.
