About this resource

About

The Association for Driver Rehabilitation Specialists (ADED) was founded in 1977 and is the sole professional organisation dedicated to driver rehabilitation credentialing and education in the US and Canada. ADED administers the Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist (CDRS®) credential, the highest national standard of practice in the field.

What It Does

ADED's searchable online directory allows people with disabilities or their caregivers to locate a credentialed specialist in their area. Specialists provide comprehensive driving evaluations, adaptive equipment recommendations (hand controls, steering aids, spinner knobs, pedal extensions), vehicle modification guidance, and behind-the-wheel training tailored to each person's needs.

Who It Helps

Adults with physical disabilities, neurological conditions, or age-related changes affecting safe driving ability—including people with limb differences, spinal cord injury, stroke, TBI, MS, and cerebral palsy—who wish to achieve or maintain driving independence.
