About
AppleVis was founded in 2010 and has become the definitive community hub for blind and low-vision Apple device users worldwide. In 2024 AppleVis joined the Be My Eyes family of accessibility products. The site is entirely free and is maintained by a volunteer editorial team of blind, DeafBlind, and low-vision users, ensuring all content reflects genuine lived experience with Apple's VoiceOver screen reader, the Zoom screen magnifier, and Display Accommodations features.
What It Does
AppleVis hosts a searchable directory of hundreds of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, Apple Watch, and Apple TV apps rated for accessibility by community members, with detailed notes on VoiceOver compatibility and usability for blind or low-vision users. The forum covers any Apple-related accessibility discussion and has expanded to include Windows, Android, and smart home tech. A blog tracks Apple accessibility news and software releases; a podcast provides screen-reader demos and expert interviews; and practical guides walk users through enabling and using VoiceOver, Zoom, Display Accommodations, and other built-in Apple accessibility features. The annual Apple Vision Accessibility Report Card grades Apple across all its platforms.
Who It Helps
AppleVis serves blind, DeafBlind, and low-vision users of any Apple device who want to discover accessible apps, troubleshoot accessibility features, stay informed about Apple accessibility developments, or connect with a knowledgeable peer community. It is also a trusted resource for AT specialists, educators, and O&M instructors who support Apple device users.
