About
Funded by the Government of Aragón (Spain), ARASAAC was created to provide universally accessible communication symbols at no cost. The library has been adopted by hundreds of AAC apps, school districts, and families globally. Symbols were drawn by artist Sergio Palao and include full-colour and black-and-white versions of each pictogram.
What It Does
Hosts a searchable symbol database alongside browser-based tools for building communication boards, visual schedules, bingo games, and domino cards — no software installation required. Symbols cover daily life, emotions, actions, places, food, school, and health. ARASAAC pictograms are embedded in apps such as LetMeTalk, Cboard, and Ottaa.
Who It Helps
Families, speech-language pathologists, teachers, and individuals who need free, high-quality AAC materials — particularly those who cannot access commercial symbol libraries. Widely used for autism, cognitive disabilities, aphasia, and anyone who benefits from visual communication supports. Especially valuable in lower-resource settings and multilingual communities.
