About this resource

About

Ava is an accessibility platform built in close partnership with the deaf and hard-of-hearing community. Its speech-to-text engine provides real-time captions with per-speaker colour coding, and human Scribe captioners are available for high-stakes situations such as medical appointments or legal proceedings that require near-perfect accuracy.

What It Does

Ava's mobile app captions in-person conversations through the phone microphone, while Ava Connect integrates directly with video-conferencing platforms, labelling each speaker and saving searchable transcripts. Users can type responses so hearing participants see replies instantly. A free tier provides several hours per month; a paid Pro tier removes the time cap.

Who It Helps

Deaf, hard-of-hearing, and late-deafened individuals who need reliable captions at work, school, medical appointments, or social events. Supports 50+ languages, making it especially useful in multilingual workplaces and international classrooms.
