About this resource

About

Be My Eyes was founded in Denmark in 2015 and has grown into one of the largest visual assistance platforms in the world, with millions of sighted volunteers and users across more than 150 countries. In 2023 it launched Be My AI, a feature powered by large language model vision capabilities.

What It Does

When a blind or low-vision user needs visual help, they tap a button in the app and connect live via video to a sighted volunteer, who describes what the camera sees. Be My AI provides instant scene descriptions, text reading, and object identification without waiting for a volunteer. Specialist Help connects users directly to the customer service accessibility teams of major companies. The app is free on iOS and Android and supports 180+ languages.

Who It Helps

Be My Eyes serves blind and low-vision individuals who need quick, on-demand visual assistance for everyday tasks — reading expiry dates, identifying objects, checking clothing colours, navigating new environments, or getting help with any visual challenge where another set of eyes (human or AI) makes a difference.
