About
Blaze Sports America was founded in 1994 in Atlanta, Georgia by athletes who competed in the 1996 Atlanta Paralympic Games. Named for the flame of the torch that unites athletes, Blaze Sports has grown from a local programme into the leading adaptive sports organisation in the southeastern United States.
What It Does
Blaze Sports offers competitive and recreational programmes in wheelchair basketball, track and field, swimming, cycling, sitting volleyball, and tennis. Youth development programmes introduce children with physical disabilities to sport from an early age. A veterans programme serves service members with service-connected physical disabilities. Blaze Sports also advocates for adaptive sports inclusion in schools and community recreation programmes across the Southeast.
Who It Helps
Children and adults with physical disabilities in Georgia and the southeastern United States, including people with spinal cord injuries, amputations, cerebral palsy, and other conditions. Competitive athletes aiming for Paralympic qualification and recreational participants seeking fitness and community are both welcome.
