About this resource

About

Bloom Fitness was founded in 2016 in partnership with a day habilitation provider in Rosenberg, Texas, starting with seven stationary bikes and a goal of getting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) moving. The organization has since grown to serve athletes at more than 40 locations across five states, investing over $1 million in its mission of leading every person with IDD to a lifetime of wellness.

What It Does

Bloom provides yoga, pilates, chair fitness, cycle, strength, and dance classes — in person at partner IDD service provider facilities, live via Bloom Live!, and on demand through the Bloom Fitness app. Chair fitness classes combine yoga, dance, pilates, and strength so any participant can take part entirely from a seated position, including those with co-occurring physical disabilities.

Who It Helps

Adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including those with dual diagnoses and co-occurring physical or mobility challenges. Programs are delivered through IDD service provider partnerships, making them financially accessible to participants who are economically disadvantaged.
