About this resource

About

BORP (Bay Area Outreach & Recreation Program) is a Berkeley, California-based adaptive sports and recreation organisation founded in 1975, providing the most comprehensive adaptive programme in the San Francisco Bay Area. Since launching its Virtual Fitness Programme in 2020, BORP has expanded its reach to serve participants throughout the United States and beyond.

What It Does

BORP's virtual fitness offerings include an eight-week inclusive strength and mobility series designed for wheelchair users and people with varying levels of mobility, led by adaptive fitness coaches with a focus on resistance bands and bodyweight movement. Live SitFit classes combine seated dance and strength training, and Rumba sessions add upbeat cardio. BORP also maintains a curated directory of other recommended virtual adaptive fitness resources.

Who It Helps

People with physical disabilities, wheelchair users, and anyone with mobility limitations seeking community-led adaptive fitness from home. While based in the Bay Area, the virtual programme is fully open to participants across the US and internationally with no geographic restriction.
