About this resource

About

Developed in the UK and adopted by NHS trusts, universities, and local authorities across England and Wales, Brain in Hand is the subject of multiple peer-reviewed outcome studies. It is used by autistic adults, university students with support needs, and people with anxiety-related cognitive challenges who need a structured safety net for daily life.

What It Does

The app provides a daily diary, a personal coping strategy library, and a traffic-light anxiety-monitoring system that can alert a 24/7 human support team. A trained coach configures the system to each user's individual challenges and goals at setup. On-demand phone, email, or text support from the Brain in Hand team is included with the subscription, available any time the user needs it.

Who It Helps

Brain in Hand primarily serves autistic adults and people with mental health or cognitive challenges who need structured, on-call support to navigate daily life — including those transitioning to university, employment, or independent living.
