About this resource

About

CaptionCall has been available since 2010 and is operated by Sorenson Communications, the leading provider of accessibility communication services in the US. Sorenson delivers and installs the hardware at no cost to users, with setup available in person or via virtual trainer. Captions are available in English and Spanish around the clock.

What It Does

The CaptionCall home phone transcribes what a caller says onto a large, high-contrast screen in real time. The CaptionCall Mobile app brings the same service to iOS and Android smartphones. Additional features include voicemail transcription and a Favourite Contacts list. Eligibility requires self-certification of hearing loss through a simple online form.

Who It Helps

CaptionCall is available to any US resident with hearing loss who needs captions to use the phone effectively. The dedicated hardware is especially popular among seniors and people with age-related or progressive hearing loss.
