About this resource

About

CoughDrop is a cloud-based, open-source AAC application built on the philosophy that every voice deserves to be heard and that powerful communication tools should be portable and affordable. It stores all vocabulary boards in the cloud, eliminating the risk of losing data if a device is lost or replaced.

What It Does

Because CoughDrop is cloud-based, any vocabulary edits made by a therapist or parent are instantly available on all of the communicator''s devices. The app includes a dedicated modelling mode for communication partners, built-in data tracking and language-use reports, and a secure team-messaging tool. It uses the Open Board Format, making vocabulary sets portable across different AAC apps. Pricing is $9 per month or a one-time $295 lifetime license per communicator.

Who It Helps

CoughDrop supports people with autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, Rett syndrome, and any other complex communication need. Its cross-platform availability—iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, and web—means communicators always have access to their vocabulary, and its open-source nature allows schools and clinicians to customise it for specialised populations.
