About this resource

About

Disability Arts Online (DAO) has been the leading international online platform for deaf and disabled artists since 1998, originally established in the UK with a global readership. It champions disability arts as a distinct artistic practice and cultural movement — not as therapy or charity — with rigorous arts criticism and industry news.

What It Does

DAO publishes news about accessible performances, exhibitions, and arts events; commissions critical reviews and essays on disability arts and culture; lists funding opportunities, residencies, and open calls for deaf and disabled artists; and maintains a digital archive of disability arts history. A jobs board lists accessible employment in the arts sector.

Who It Helps

Deaf and disabled artists at all career stages seeking opportunities, funding, and peer community; arts professionals and organisations seeking to programme disability arts or improve inclusion; audiences looking for culturally rich accessible arts events and criticism.
