About
Operated by Envision, a Kansas-based nonprofit serving people with vision loss, the Envision Arts Gallery and Community Engagement Center in Wichita is regarded as the first national gallery primarily dedicated to artists and audiences with vision loss. The fully accessible facility serves as both a professional exhibition venue and a hands-on creative education centre.
What It Does
Hosts rotating exhibitions of work by blind, visually impaired, and disabled artists, with presentation designed for vision loss: Braille labels, large-font materials, scannable QR-code audio descriptions, navigational floor tape, and trained sighted guides. Offers PRIDE adult studio art classes and ECDC youth art programmes for participants with vision loss and developmental disabilities, alongside an Artist-in-Residency programme for professional development.
Who It Helps
Blind and visually impaired artists and art enthusiasts seeking fully accessible cultural experiences, as well as people with developmental disabilities taking part in supported studio art classes. The gallery serves visitors and participants of all ages.
