eSight was founded in Canada and is now part of Gentex Corporation (acquired in 2024). The device is clinically supported and prescribed in partnership with low vision optometrists, with peer-reviewed research backing its effectiveness for central vision loss conditions.
eSight captures high-definition video from a front-facing camera and projects it onto two OLED screens directly in front of the user's eyes, with real-time controls for zoom, contrast, brightness, and colour filtering. Unlike screen magnification software, eSight enhances real-world vision—faces, menus, whiteboards, television, and outdoor scenes—without requiring a computer. The eSight Go (2024) added increased field of view, improved image stabilisation, and a lighter, more compact frame.
eSight is used by people with age-related macular degeneration, Stargardt disease, diabetic retinopathy, uveitis, optic nerve hypoplasia, and other conditions causing central vision loss. It can help users with visual acuity as low as 20/800 achieve functional enhanced vision in daily activities.
