About this resource

About

Focusmate is built on the principle of body doubling — the well-documented ADHD strategy in which working alongside another person significantly improves task engagement and completion. Each session begins with partners sharing what they plan to accomplish; they then work silently on camera before a brief check-out. The platform reports a 161 % average productivity increase among its users.

What It Does

Users book sessions in advance (which itself reduces procrastination), get matched with a partner across time zones, share their goal in the chat, and work for a set duration. Session lengths are 25, 50, or 75 minutes. A free plan includes three sessions per week; unlimited sessions are available on a paid monthly or annual plan. Calendar invites sync automatically.

Who It Helps

Recommended by ADHD clinicians and rated highly across ADHD communities, Focusmate benefits adults and college students with ADHD, executive dysfunction, task-initiation difficulties, and those who work from home in isolation.
