About this resource

About

Forge Ahead: A Party to Access was co-founded in 2021 by Rachel Voss and Wesley Magee-Saxton after connecting online through D&D disability communities during the pandemic. Its mission is to demonstrate the worth of individuals with disabilities in both society and tabletop gaming through world-building, community outreach, education, and accessible game mechanics.

What It Does

The project publishes the Chair Smith D&D 5e tools—adapted from Sara Thompson's combat wheelchair sheet—along with disability-positive homebrew supplements, worldbuilding resources featuring disabled characters, and collaborative narrative content with publishers such as dScryb. Forge Ahead presented at the 2023 GDC Tabletop Summit and continues to produce resources for disabled players and game masters.

Who It Helps

D&D and TTRPG players with physical disabilities and wheelchair users who want to see their experiences reflected at the game table, as well as game masters seeking guidance on portraying disability with authenticity and respect.
