About this resource

About

Gathering Strength Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2018 by Elizabeth Fust, a Louisville attorney who sustained a spinal cord stroke in 2006 and is a T7 paraplegic. Intentionally disability-led, the organisation requires at least 50 percent of its board and staff to be people with disabilities.

What It Does

Gathering Strength offers free live online group fitness classes — strength and endurance, mindful movement, and cardio — delivered via Zoom and led by certified adaptive trainers. All classes are beginner-friendly and fully seated. Recordings are available on demand, and the organisation also publishes exercise resources and wellness guidance tailored to people with physical disabilities.

Who It Helps

Adults with spinal cord injury, stroke, or other physically disabling conditions who need accessible, no-cost fitness. Particularly serves people who face financial barriers or live in areas without local adaptive fitness options.
