About
Grid 3 is developed by Smartbox Assistive Technology, a UK-based AAC specialist with a long track record in the field. It is widely deployed across the United Kingdom and internationally in school, residential, and community settings, supported by a large community of users and professionals sharing custom vocabulary sets through the Smartbox Grid community. A 60-day free trial is available.
What It Does
Grid 3 combines symbol-based AAC, text communication, environmental controls, accessible apps, and learning activities within a single Windows application. It is compatible with eye gaze, switch scanning, touch, and head pointing. Users and SLPs can build custom grids or download from hundreds of community-shared vocabulary files, and Grid for iPad extends much of this functionality to Apple devices.
Who It Helps
Grid 3 is used by children and adults with cerebral palsy, ALS/MND, autism, acquired brain injury, Rett syndrome, and multiple sclerosis who need support for communication and independent computer access. It is especially prevalent in UK special education and adult disability services.
