About this resource

About

Hamilton CapTel has been providing captioned telephone service for more than 20 years and has delivered over 400 million captioned calls. As an FCC-certified IP CTS provider, the captioning service is funded through the federal TRS Fund and available at no charge to eligible users with hearing loss.

What It Does

Hamilton CapTel offers dedicated captioned home phone hardware as well as the Hamilton Mobile CapTel app for iOS and Android. During calls, automatic speech recognition generates real-time captions of the other caller, with optional communications assistant support for corrections. The service operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week in both English and Spanish.

Who It Helps

Hamilton CapTel serves adults and seniors with hearing loss who need accessible telephone communication at home or on the go. The service works with existing phone numbers and does not require users to change telephone providers.
