About this resource

About

Get in the Hearing Loop is a communication access initiative of the Hearing Loss Association of America. It educates consumers, venue managers, architects, and policymakers about hearing loop technology, which delivers audio wirelessly via magnetic induction directly into any telecoil-enabled hearing aid or cochlear implant processor—eliminating the background noise of loudspeakers.

What It Does

The GITHL toolkit provides free downloadable resources including venue advocacy letter templates, a consumer guide for requesting hearing loops under the ADA, a "Hear Here" signage card for venues that already have a loop installed, and information on the international IEC 60118-4 loop performance standard. Chapters across the country use these materials to lobby local theaters, government offices, and airports for loop installations.

Who It Helps

People who use telecoil-equipped hearing aids or cochlear implant processors, HLAA chapter advocates, audiologists advising patients on public-access solutions, and architects or facilities managers seeking ADA-compliant assistive listening specifications.
