About
Kakana — meaning bold, determined, daring, and courageous — was launched in October 2021 by founder Matt Ney as a streaming fitness platform built on two principles: adaptive fitness and community. The platform partners with the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation National Paralysis Resource Center to extend adaptive fitness access to people living with paralysis and other disabilities.
What It Does
Kakana streams live and on-demand classes across categories including seated fitness, strength, cardio, yoga, tabata, resistance bands, meditation, and adaptive boxing. Many instructors have disabilities themselves and provide real-time modifications for participants with different ability levels. A free trial period is available before committing to a monthly subscription.
Who It Helps
People with physical disabilities, paralysis, spinal cord injuries, and chronic conditions who want high-quality, professionally led adaptive fitness classes from home. Also accessible to non-disabled users who prefer inclusive, ability-diverse fitness content.
