About
Developed through a collaboration between PRC-Saltillo and The Center for AAC & Autism, LAMP Words for Life combines the Minspeak symbol system with evidence-based LAMP therapeutic principles grounded in neurological and motor learning research. The goal is to give users truly independent, self-initiated communication.
What It Does
Every vocabulary item occupies a fixed, unique screen location regardless of which page is active, so users develop reliable motor memory for each word over time. The app supports multiple user profiles, integrates with training resources from The Center for AAC & Autism, and runs both as an App Store purchase and on dedicated Accent hardware eligible for insurance funding.
Who It Helps
LAMP Words for Life is primarily designed for nonspeaking individuals with autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and apraxia of speech. The motor-planning approach is particularly effective for early communicators and for those who have struggled to build consistent vocabulary with traditional grid-based AAC systems.
