About this resource

About

Lifeward (formerly ReWalk Robotics) pioneered the personal exoskeleton category when the ReWalk became the first device to receive FDA approval for community use in 2014. The ReWalk 7 is the latest generation, designed for everyday use at home, at work, and in the community for individuals with lower-limb paralysis from spinal cord injury.

What It Does

The wearable robotic exoskeleton powers hip and knee motion to enable standing, level walking, turning, and stair climbing. FDA clearance for stair and curb functionality was expanded in 2023. Cloud connectivity supports remote monitoring, and walking parameters are customisable to each user. Individuals complete a structured training programme with a certified ReWalk provider before using the device independently at home.

Who It Helps

Individuals with spinal cord injury who are eligible for Medicare (covered since January 2024) or VA benefits, and those pursuing workers' compensation or private-pay funding who require an FDA-approved exoskeleton for home and community ambulation.
