About this resource

About

Founded by power wheelchair user Vance Castillo, LUCI is a Nashville-based company whose mission is to make power wheelchairs smarter, safer, and more connected. LUCI mounts between the existing power base and seat of any power chair without voiding the manufacturer warranty, and pairs with a mobile app and web portal called MyLUCI.

What It Does

Patented FusionSensors™ give the chair a 360-degree view of its environment, automatically preventing collisions, drop-offs, and tip incidents while preserving the user's personal driving preferences. The MyLUCI platform (iOS, Android, and web) lets users and caregivers track battery levels, seat-pressure alerts, and driving logs in real time. LUCI also integrates with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant so users can check chair status by voice.

Who It Helps

Power wheelchair users seeking greater independence and safety at home and in the community, as well as caregivers and clinicians who need remote visibility into seating pressure, battery health, and usage patterns.
