About
Mouth & Foot Painting Artists (MFPA) USA is the American affiliate of the global artist-owned cooperative founded in 1957 by Erich Stegmann, a painter who built a successful career in Germany by painting with a mouth-held brush after losing the use of his arms. The global association now represents around 750 artists across more than 70 countries, all of whom paint exclusively with the mouth or foot due to physical disability.
What It Does
MFPA USA markets fine-art greetings cards, prints, calendars, jigsaw puzzles, and gift products featuring member artists' original work, with all proceeds supporting artists through monthly stipends and royalties. A scholarship programme helps aspiring mouth and foot painters develop their skills and progress toward full professional membership and representation.
Who It Helps
People with physical disabilities affecting the use of the hands—such as quadriplegia, limb differences, or neuromuscular conditions—who have developed or wish to develop a career in fine-art painting.
