About this resource

About

Mobility Matters Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2022 and based in Hendersonville, North Carolina. It removes the cost and geographic barriers that prevent many people with physical disabilities from receiving complex rehabilitation technology evaluations, operating as a student- and clinician-run organisation with a 100% client-satisfaction rate reported in 2023.

What It Does

Licensed occupational therapists conduct secure telehealth evaluations for complex rehabilitation equipment including power and manual wheelchairs, custom positioning systems, standers, adaptive bikes, lifts, and hospital beds. The foundation assists clients with equipment justification documentation, insurance appeals, and connecting with suppliers. In 2023 it provided nearly $19,000 in pro-bono services and helped 14 individuals obtain adaptive bikes.

Who It Helps

Children and adults with physical disabilities, neuromuscular conditions, and complex seating needs who cannot access or afford in-person seating and mobility specialist evaluations, particularly those in rural or geographically underserved areas of the United States.
