About
Used by over 400 million people across 2,700 cities in 112 countries, Moovit is one of the world's most widely used transit apps. The platform has invested significantly in features that reduce barriers for riders with disabilities, including partnerships with transit authorities to surface real-time accessible vehicle and station data.
What It Does
The trip planner lets users filter routes to show only wheelchair- and stroller-accessible options. Live Directions provides GPS-style audio guidance for each step of the journey, with alerts when a bus or train is approaching and "Get Off Alerts" to give riders time to prepare before their stop. The app meets WCAG 2.1 AA web accessibility standards and is fully optimised for VoiceOver (iOS) and TalkBack (Android) screen readers.
Who It Helps
Wheelchair users, blind and visually impaired transit riders, people with cognitive or intellectual disabilities who benefit from step-by-step audio guidance, and any traveller who depends on step-free public transport options.
