About this resource

About

Founded in 1989, the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA) is a 501(c)(6) non-profit trade association serving adaptive vehicle dealers and manufacturers across the United States and Canada. NMEDA's Quality Assurance Program (QAP) establishes safety and service standards for certified mobility equipment providers.

What It Does

The consumer section of the NMEDA website provides a certified-dealer locator searchable by ZIP code, explanations of common vehicle modification types (hand controls, left-foot accelerators, wheelchair lifts, lowered-floor conversions, driving aids), and a thorough funding guide covering state vocational rehabilitation programmes, VA Automobile Adaptive Equipment grants, and OEM manufacturer rebates from Ford, GM, Toyota, and Chrysler. A dedicated driver rehabilitation specialist referral pathway is also included.

Who It Helps

People with physical disabilities exploring adaptive driving or accessible passenger transport, veterans with mobility-related service-connected conditions, and rehabilitation professionals or family members assisting with the vehicle modification process.
