The National Organization for Vehicle Accessibility (NOVA) is a non-profit whose mission is to educate, advocate, and provide financial assistance for the mobility and transportation needs of people with disabilities. NOVA operates a quarterly grant programme designed to help individuals who have secured most of the cost of their adaptive vehicle equipment but need a final push to close the funding gap.
During each quarterly funding cycle (open the first month of each quarter), eligible applicants can apply for a grant covering up to 25 percent of the cost of qualifying mobility equipment, with a maximum award of $5,000. Eligible equipment includes accessible van conversions, wheelchair and scooter lifts, driving aids, and car-top carriers. Applicants must provide proof that 75 percent of the purchase price is already secured, income documentation, and an official quote from an NMEDA-certified dealer.
NOVA grants are available to US and Canadian residents with mobility impairments who need vehicle modifications to maintain transportation independence. This includes wheelchair and scooter users, individuals with limited limb function requiring hand controls, and people transitioning from hospital or rehabilitation back to community life who need an accessible vehicle.
