About this resource

About

NOVA is a non-profit organisation dedicated to expanding vehicle accessibility for people with mobility disabilities. Its Ralph Braun Grant Program — named after the late wheelchair user who founded BraunAbility — is designed to bridge the gap between what applicants can secure from other funding sources and the true cost of their vehicle modification.

What It Does

NOVA awards grants covering up to 25 per cent of the total equipment cost, with a maximum award of $5,000 per cycle. To qualify, applicants must demonstrate financial need, show proof of having secured at least 75 per cent of the equipment cost from other sources, and provide an official quote from a certified NMEDA dealer. Applications are submitted online and evaluated each quarter.

Who It Helps

Individuals with permanent mobility disabilities who need financial assistance to purchase wheelchair lifts, vehicle lowering conversions, hand controls, or other adaptive equipment. The programme is particularly valuable for those whose insurance, VA benefits, or vocational rehabilitation funding falls short of the full equipment cost.
